A volunteer opportunity meant to nourish the youth in Boys & Girls Aid’s Shelter & Housing programs

Make a difference by preparing and sharing meals through the Mandala Community Kitchen.

Cook Up Some Good for the Youth in our Shelter & Housing Programs

  • Whip Up a Home-Cooked Meal: Prepare your favorite comfort-food for the youth at Safe Place.

  • Make a Donation: Directly support the Mandala Community Kitchen’s efforts to provide healthy and delicious home-cooked meals to the youth in Boys & Girls Aid’s Shelter and Housing programs with a cash donation or a gift card to a local grocery store.

  • Create a Meal Kit: Share a favorite recipe, and provide the ingredients for a meal kit to be delivered to youth in our supportive housing programs.

Whether you’re a culinary expert or barely know your way around the kitchen, we’ve cooked up plenty of great ways for you to get involved:

About the Mandala Family

The Mandala Community Kitchen embodies the dedication of youth volunteer Raaga Mandala and her family. Raaga is a fierce advocate for individuals experiencing homelessness, a journey that began at 10 years old when she was elected Oregon’s Kid Governor in 2020 for her three-point plan to combat homelessness.

Since 2024, Raaga and her family have been a vital part of Boys & Girls Aid, regularly preparing traditional Indian meals for our Safe Place shelter in Hillsboro and raising more than $5,000 to support our work. The Mandala Community Kitchen encourages community members to join in the Mandala family’s tradition of service and generosity.
